Money Come, Money Go

I see the money come, money go, but it never cease
It’s just amazing to my gazing it continues to fleet

Where’s the levity?

Yo my voicemail full of missed calls from creditors
You ain’t seeing red, then you ain’t on my level brah
IRS talkin ’bout qualified dividends
Just blow it all up and see if we can begin again
Fresh, new, oh so clean
Take a breath, digress, as I step on the scene
Check shorty right there, yo she look like a fiend
but cash flows lean, girl leaves scene, searchin for green

I see the money come, I see the money go

Where’s the levity?
(I’ve been beat down, but no where near the end of my road)

It used to be the paycheck was an afterthought
Now we wondering whether we goin’ ever see one at all
Been so long since the fall I forgot I was free
Down here shackled by the purse strings, cursing the breeze
And running credit, indebted, you know how it is
A bit of quickly fleeting breathing room for a percentage
I been confusing hope, dollars and cents
And growing smaller in the shadow of my mountain of debt
So I ask…

Where’s the levity?
(I’ve been beat down, but no where near the end of my road)

I can sing a sad song only so long
Hope suits me like the threads upon a don
We gots this, they got nothing but some duckets
Two tears and we back up on the hustle

I’ll leave the light on on my porch
And a cold beer waiting for
The day we conquer all we owe
Until then…
